Problem Note 39992: Japanese characters might not display correctly in Import Wizard windows

DetailsAboutRate It

If you start a Japanese edition of SAS® 9.2 on an English Windows operating system with Japanese system locale setup, the Japanese characters might not display correctly in Import Wizard windows.

This is a Windows system font issue. The default user interface font of English Multilingual User Interface (MUI) is not appropriate if you use Japanese editions of SAS software.

To change the Windows user interface font to display Japanese characters, perform the following steps:

  1. Right-click an empty spot on your Desktop.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select the Appearance tab.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. In the dialog box, select an appropriate font for Japanese.

Similar problems can occur with Chinese or Korean editions of SAS software.
